"Gettin back into the swing of things..."
We haven't been out racing much lately...Shortly after the season started,we lost Tony's mom,Debbie Oberhauser,to cancer.She was a wonderful mother & friend to Tony & it really hit him hard.The few times we have been at the track,we ALL had a very tough time concentrating.....Debbie thought that Tony was the reason the sun would rise & set every day.She supported him in every choice that he made.When Tony first started driving the Camaro,she insisted on coming to the track to see exactly what her son was so excited about.She watched him race one time.....and within 2 weeks time she had bought Tony a brand new racing suit,racing shoes,a new helmet,and a new set of Hoosiers for the Camaro(I even think the seat belts in the Camaro were updated that week).....Debbie never went to the track again....But she was so proud of Tony & his accomplishments.
Tony told me today that we're going racing this weekend (7-26-08)...He's been on the sidelines in the pits for long enough...I have to remember to tell him to buckle down good...and drive extra careful....because I have a feeling Debbie will be going along for the ride as well......

Timeline of Events for Team Oberhauser
- February 1999-Tony traded a beat up 1974 Chevy step-side truck straight across for a 1973 Camaro.
- November 2000-Andrea & the Camaro both make their 1st passes down a track @ ThunderValley in Noble,OK. Camaro runs 12.86 @ 96 MPH.
- April 2001-Team Oberhauser becomes official by joining Chuck Hoffman & his '65 Chevelle at Texhoma Motorplex to drag race full time.Andrea is the driver.
- August 2001-Camaro's 1st season @ Texhoma Motorplex.Andrea wins 2001 Rookie of the Year & places 4th in No-Electronics points.Best ET:6.99 @ 107 MPH
- 2002-Texhoma Motorplex closes permanently and we follow Darrell Reid as he rebuilds & opens Wichita Raceway Park in Wichita Falls,Texas in May 2003.
- 2005-Tony finishes a No-Electronics season @ WRP in the top 5 in points.Best ET:5.85 @ 116 MPH
- March 2006-Ken Brumfield is chosen to drive the Camaro thru her 1st season in Super Pro & places 3rd in points with only dragsters ahead of him.Best ET:5.78 @ 117 MPH
- October 2007-Tony wins WRP's Super Pro King of the Track & takes home his first Wally.
- Bracket Finals-Ennis,Texas-Qualifications in 2001 with Texhoma Motorplex(Andrea-driver), and 2005,2006,& 2007(Tony & Ken-driver) on the team for Wichita Raceway Park.
- Tony drives Camaro in 2008 Billingsley Shoot-out at Sooner Motorplex in Lawton,OK. Runs a 5.82 @ 118 MPH...(1st time running at this new track.)

2007 WRP Super Pro King of the Track.......
Our 2007 racing season was anything but normal and routine.We concluded our season at WRP on Saturday Oct.20 with the annual "KING OF THE TRACK" race.A race in which,other than the higher than usual payout & typical bragging rights,the prize is the most coveted trophy in drag racing.....The Wally. We had initially decided NOT to race in the "King of the Track" race,but after Tony did such a good driving job at the Bracket Finals the month before,we had a change of heart,and I believe it was the best decision we ever made concerning racing....On our way to the track that Saturday,there was a very unusual,yet calming silence in the truck.None of us had any idea what was in store for our team that night.
Team Oberhauser has a few traditions that we perform each time we race.Some people would call them "superstitions" and some people would say they are ridiculous rituals that never pay off.Regardless of what or how you see them,it was a culmination of these traditions that somehow prepared us for what just might be the greatest day of racing for Team Oberhauser.At the end of a long night,I got to stand on the starting line during the final pass.The FINAL round.Tony had worked his way through and beaten all worthy competitors he had to face.The Camaro was running as if she had her own "mission" that night.When both green lights lit all I could do was stand there and wait... waiting for what seemed like 7 and a half years.Time seemed to stand still.I was over-whelmed with the feeling of Pride and Respect and Honor.And then, the win light blew on in Tony's lane at the big end.....and it happened!!!I realized that not only did I get the priviledge to witness it...but I got to be a part of it!!! I got the HONOR to stand back and watch as the man I love made his dream become real! And in doing that,he made my dream real as well.I am so proud of Tony and his accomplishments during his first season of driving in Super-Pro.There is nothing he could ever buy for me that would ever compare to the gift that he gave me that night...He made me realize that wishes are granted...and DREAMS really do come true!!!!
